How to invert colors on iPhone and iPad
If you like to read from your iPhone or iPad in bed at night, you’ve likely been accused of keeping up your partner, or even the neighbors, with the iridescent glow from the display. In order to save your relationship with friends and family while keeping up your evening regimen of reading the same paragraph over and over every night until you fall asleep, try inverting colors on iPhone and iPad. Inverting the colors on your display will darken the light it emits, help to reduce eye strain, and even serve to conserve your battery life. Inverting colors is easily accomplished, and you can set up a shortcut to make it even easier.
Activate the Invert Colors Option
Step 1. Tap the Settings app icon on your iPhone or iPad.
Step 2. Tap the General option.
Step 3. Tap the Accessibility option.
Step 4. Under the Vision section, slide the Invert Colors option to the On position, and the colors will invert instantly.
If you intend to use this feature frequently, you can make it faster and easier to undertake this process by setting up a shortcut to perform this function. By setting up a shortcut, you would not need to go through the Settings -> General -> Accessibility screens to toggle between color inversion settings each time you wanted to change it. Here’s how.
Setting Up an Invert Colors Shortcut
Step 1. Return to the Accessibility option under Settings -> General -> Accessibility (see above). Tap the Accessibility option.
Step 2. Scroll to the bottom of the Accessibility options to the Accessibility Shortcut option.
Step 3. Tap the Invert Colors option, and a check mark will display to denote that you have selected it.
Step 4. Click the Home button 3 times quickly (triple-click), and this action will now invert the colors.
