Chrome, Firefox, DuckDuckGo, and Opera’s “private” browsing mode is not truly private. Brave includes a built-in ad-blocker to give you the fastest internet browsing experience while providing the deepest level of privacy and security protection. Brave also lets you control who profits from your data with blockchain-based tokens. Faster, safer, ad-free browsing — Brave is the better browser and we proudly support it. Watch the Video
Tip your favorite websites
On October 18, 2018, Brave released v0.55 which introduced a Chromium-based browser. Accompanying the Chromium-based design was Brave Rewards, a new system of compensating ad-blocked publishers and creators with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT). A component of Brave Rewards is the option to tip your favorite websites with BAT using Brave browser at the moment you visit them. On occasion, Brave Software will grant free BAT to Brave browser users for use in rewarding content creators. Tech Help Knowledgebase is a Brave Verified Publisher.
Private Windows with Tor
Brave also supports private browsing over Tor. Originally known as The Onion Router, Tor is free software used for anonymous communication. It relays your communications around a global volunteer overlay network to hide your location and usage from surveillance. In doing so, Tor protects your personal privacy and freedom to communicate with others without fear of being monitored. When launching a Tor-powered window within Brave, the Tor network anonymizes communication within that window. Please see our article about how to use Tor with Brave browser.
Earn BAT by viewings ads
Starting with Brave 0.63, users who opt in to Brave Ads get paid in BAT tokens to view ads. Brave bases the ads they display to users on interests inferred by their browsing behavior. They do this without using personal data or browsing history. Users who opt in receive 70% of the ad revenue share as a reward for giving advertisers their attention.
